What is an EU Blue card and what benefits does it bring?

"The EU Blue Card is a residence permit option for highly skilled professionals from outside the European Union, enabling them to bring their talents to Europe. Almost all EU countries participate by issuing EU Blue Cards (except Denmark and Ireland).
